Mindfulness Meditation
So what is mindfulness meditation and why is it important? Most people think of meditation as simply just sitting and meditating on a cushion. But meditation can be expanded much more than that. Meditation can be brought to the “real world” as a practice, by being mindful, aware, and conscious of your thoughts, emotions and actions.
There are many ways to do mindfulness meditation, but the way Shinzen Young describes it is the 5 ways.
The 5 ways of mindfulness meditation are:
Focus in (your internal dialaogue, images, and feelings)
Focus out (external sounds, sight, sensations, smell, and even taste)
Rest (focusing on the silence, and peaceful state of awareness of the NOW)
Flow (focusing on the transient change of reality)
Focus on Positive (focusing on positive imagery, and feelings)
